Aerial Drawing Stirling Place

Retail & Leisure

Stirling Place is intended to create employment opportunities as part of a new local community with the necessary balance of offices, shops and residential space. The creation of a new public realm and the main pedestrian route through to Luton Parkway provides the ideal retail frontage at ground floor level in order to service the local office and residential elements. Intended retail uses include facilities such as shops, cafes and restaurants - all of which will help nurture a local community atmosphere and a sense of place.

Parking

Car parking spaces will be provided for residents and employers, and the majority of these will be provided for at ground level with additional spaces at lower ground level beneath the main residential accommodation, accessed off Kimpton Road.

Transport

Studies suggest that our proposals will generate an additional 2-3 vehicles per minute during peak periods. The composition of this traffic will be quite different from the existing site traffic, with the number of HGV movements greatly reduced, and is unlikely to have a significant effect on the operation of the local highway network. This will be examined in detail within the Transport Assessment and agreed by the Highways Agency.

Employment

Approximately 750 full time equivalent jobs will be created at Stirling Place as a result of the proposed new station access, retail units, commercial offices and residential elements. A further 750,000 construction man hours will be required to build the whole of Napier Park.
